Charity harvests donations

CHERRY Hinton Junior School is the latest in Cambridgeshire to donate gifts to recently founded charity Cambridge Foodbank.

Pupils presented goods to the projects development officer, Sue Roberts, at harvest festival celebrations this week.

The project, initiated by homeless charity Emmaus Cambridge and Jimmy’s Night Shelter, aims to redistribute unwanted food and provisions to local people in need.

Pupils from Barnabus Oley Primary School, Kings College School, Great and Little Shelford Primary School, Morley Memorial School and Horlers Pre-Prep School have given to the charity.

Ms Roberts said: “This is a community-led project and we’ve been overwhelmed by the response from everyone, particularly the schools and churches.”

The Foodbank is now preparing for its official launch on October 25th.
